On September 30, 2009, Jeannie Young posted to social media that she needed to "learn how to crochet more than just a one line string for the Christmas play". She hasn't put her hook down since. What started out as an exercise to enhance a fictional character turned into a personal passion. Friends and family members soon recognized her talent and began requesting custom creations.
Jeannie began selling her creations at local craft fairs and harvest festivals in Southern Missouri. When her family relocated to the Clearwater, Florida area in 2018, Jeannie was surprised that none of the local craft fairs and markets seemed to have any fiber arts offerings. She knew it was time to bring her love of yarn to the Florida market and Chickadee Yarnworks was born.
